Deux îles, mille trésors (Two islands, a thousand treasures)

The Comité de la région des Îles acadiennes (Acadian Islands Commitee) du Congrès mondial acadien 2009 (2009 World Acadian Congress) (CRIACMA 2009) was formed to prepare the local activities for this Congress. 14 people, representing 12 Local Services Districts (LSD) and two municipalities, make up the committee.

The CRIACMA 2009 wishes to establish stronger bonds between all communities present on the islands. These will be important not only for the Congress but for future years also.

The CRIACMA 2009 also wishes to promote the event and inform the locals on all the activities of the Congress, promote tourist attractions, historic sites and local heritage, build partnerships with different associations as well as local, Peninsula and Acadian businesses from around the world.
During the 17 days of the Congress, the committee will try to let as many people as possible discover small and bigger treasures of the Islands. In fact, it is a way of promoting the scenery, marine environment, and the locals warm welcoming tradition and island communities talents.

Every community has its own list of treasures. A treasure can be an artist, historic site, beautiful sunset, wharf or even a local tale. Every treasure will be identified by a common logo. This logo will be seen near each treasure as to identify it. A map, available at each island’s entry and on the project’s Web site, will be given to visitors with all sites, business hours and the specific kind of treasure. To encourage people to visit the treasures, a treasure hunt with prizes to be won will be held to promote the Islands treasures and boost locals and visitors participation.
